I am headed to Los Vegas, NV sunday, for about four days with the wife..While we know of a few of the main attractions in the area is there places to visit that would be of interest to an ex Toolmaker/ Car / Hamb nut? Can stick a few things in for the wife too, lol..I'll have a putor so I can receive and up date...My first build thread!
There's always the collection at the Imperial Palace casino. I think that's still there. Been a long time since I was there but it's a nice collection of cars right on the strip. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I thought you wanted to talk about those crappy 70's cars that were only good for their steering boxes.
Are you renting a car? If so check out Hoover Dam. How about a helicopter ride from Vegas to the Grand Canyon? It's 45 minutes each way and they stop there for a "picnic" whatever that means. It's a little pricey at $350 each but what the hell-you only live once.... https://www.viator.com/tours/Las-Vegas/Grand-Canyon-All-American-Helicopter-Tour/d684-2280AAHT
Funny you posted this as my wife and I just got back from vegas. There's plenty to see like Counts customs, socal speed shop, ricks restoration and vegas rat rods (if you're into that sort of thing ). Also pawn stars is there. If you can go check out hoover damn, or take a long road trip to the Grand Canyon. You won't be disappointed. Sent from my SCH-R970 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
We were at the SEMA show a few years ago, the Imperial Palace was a good place to see. There was a couple of old Customs on display at that time.
Determine where Red Rock and Mt . Charleston . Beautiful , to kick back and enjoy a meal at either of these . I rode my Harley , to Mt. Charleston , rained in buckets at the top of the peak , by the time I reached the floor again I was so dry I couldn't spit . 107 in Vegas , 74 at the top of the peak . Many places and sites to see outside of gambling . Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
3 people have mentioned it but, I'll be the 4th, Hoover Dam is a marvel of engineering and not to be missed if you can help it.
Im with the others on Hoover Dam and red rocks, Ive heard not to waste your time with the pawn shop. Hit In n Out burger off Sahara They have a store besides the burger stand so you can load up on In n out shirts, hats, ect, ect. Also if you like craft beer Ellis Island just off the strip has a so so bbq and $2 homemade craft beers.
Definitely Hoover Dam. Been there 3 times. Once before 9/11 where the tour group was allowed to go into the penstock area. I don't know if that's open anymore; it was closed for a while. If you drive, not a problem parking if you get there early. Bus rides available & convenient if not driving. Pickup at hotel. Plan ahead. Another time before the bridge on Hwy 93 was started. There was a mural painting inside one of the observation rooms looking to the south where it would ultimately be built that I coulda swore was an actual photograph....great artist whoever it was. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_O'Callaghan–Pat_Tillman_Memorial_Bridge 3rd time was with old Army buds I hadn't seen in over 30 yrs As others have said, The Linq ( Imperial Palace ) is worth the time. Towards the north end of The Strip is The Holy Cow casino . Great food. The Stratosphere is at the north end, too. Good restaurant with a rotating view of Vegas Fremont Street Experience in downtown Las Vegas; at night of course. If you've got the time, take in a show or 2. Reserve seats as far ahead of time as possible! If you go expecting to get in without tickets, you'll be in alright....in a line waiting for somebody else to cancel their reservations or a "no show" Cirque du Soleil is always good. Plenty of magician shows too. I got hauled up on stage one time to "assist" a magician in his act. Fun time.
This weekend is Super run in Henderson, check out the Las Vegas Cruisin' Assoc. site, it will list everything car wise that's going on.
If you like music I have two suggestions only slightly OT. "The Delta Bombers "Rockabilly "Franks and Deans" Sinatra and Dean Martin punk rock tribute band . Don't laugh New York New York New York !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Forgot to mention in my earlier post Fremont St. as mentioned above but on the lower end of Fremont is container park, Its a quirky little shopping/restaurant area built out of shipping containers.
I always stop by and see my friend Ted when I'm up there....usually something fun going on at his place. Oh, sorry. You don't know him.
Spent some time on fremont st early evening, I thought alantic city wa a sight. Will spend another visit later in day when they are all out. Got my camera....
