This may have been asked, but I cant find it. So the vent windows are out of the car, and I want to replace the gl***. I am planning to have the gl*** guy do it while he is putting in my new front/back windshields.

I am trying to figure out how you replace them. He probably knows as he does old cars mostly, but I want to know. I also want to make sure I dont need to buy any parts for it. When you get the vent gl*** out of the frame, do you put something new inside there before the new gl*** goes in?

My paint guy said he will probably charge me a lot for the vent windows because they are a pain. If yall had it done please tell me what you paid for the vents so I will know if its a good price or not.

Many of the younger gl*** guys dont understand the need for a full sanding on the exposed edge. They have never seen a car with exposed edges. I layed new tape in the grooves, put the new gl*** in, and gently hammered it down in with a rubber hammer. No, success is not garanteed. Genuflect twice and hit it.

While you have it all apart it s a good idea to replace the bailey channel (some call them fuzzies), the steel gl*** run and replace the back edge of the vent window strip along with the vent window rubbers.
If your door gl*** is loose in its runners refix them. I usually cheat and use use non-acetic cure black silicone for this. Something along the line of Sikaflex is alright. You can also use the original tape, but I prefer the silicon.
To re***emble, fit the door gl*** on its runners and fully lower it in the door, then refit the the vent windows. You need to twist them 90 degrees to clear the lower bracket slide them in and the bolt them up.
I have done a few of them over the years and they aren't hard to do, just fiddly.
The hardest part of the job is pulling the vent windows apart and then riveting the frame back onto the front door gl*** run.
    Regards

Thanks. I purchased and am installing new fuzzies, door seals, trunk seal, windshield seals, and I also have the vent window rubbers and back seal for it to. Only piece I wasnt sure about was the vent window, but I guess its just frame, tape, and gl*** in there. Is there no glue or anything else holding it in?
