Veterans Day is tomorrow. Unlike Memorial Day, Veterans day is a day our country set aside to honor and thank LIVE Veterans. Most are aware of the sales, etc. But you may not be aware of just how many Veterans are on this board or that you may know. I'm not trying to start a band width jam, but if you're a Vet, stand and be recognized! Sharky51 (U.S.Army Special Forces), Magnet (U.S. Army), Kansas (U.S. Army), Bad Karma(U.S.M.C.), Mikey from the Black Top Barrons (U.S.Army), Cowboy from the Black Top Barrons (U.S.M.C.) and myself (U.S. Air Force Special Operations) are the ones I can think of off hand. And most of the ones I just mentioned (not sure of Bad Karma and Cowboy) are Veterans of Foreign Wars. Think about it. Everything that happened in the last two centuries in this country was threatened by a foreign power. Here's a run down for those that might have lived in a cave or been brain dead in high school History Cl***: England twice: Revolutionary War and the War of 1812 (apparently they didn't learn the first time). CSA: Civil War. (Ok, this one was on our own soil, but hey, they WERE another country in their own minds.) Germany twice: WWI & WWII (See above note for England.) Japan: WWII USSR & China: Cold War / Cuban Missile Crisis That means all of the freedoms and privileges we all enjoy, like picking the kind of job we like / going to the school of our choice / learning what you want / choosing our religious preference (or none at all) / what kind of car you drive / where you can go and when / what language you speak / how many kids you have and who you can marry / and on and on are all because of the common guy standing up (and sometimes being drafted when things were really bad) and saying, "that's just ****ing wrong and I'm going to do something about it!" and enlisting. Some of the guys on this board are serving right now, overseas in Iraq or Afghanistan. Deterring a new threat from abroad. Imagine if you were at Viva and a bomb went off in the hotel. Send the HAMBers who are serving a PM and let them know you're thinking about them. So, tomorrow, if you've got a Veteran in your family, a neighbor, or just a buddy, tell them thank you. It means a lot to us. Really.

To all those serving, and those that have gone before, we can never repay your sacrifice. May God bless you and you have my heartfelt thanks. My service was nothing compared to many, but I served and it was an honor. With all it's faults, this is the greatest country in the world and it is due to our veterans.
