Something weird this year with the white VHT paint...For the last seven years I'd blast my headers down and paint with vht paint, I got pretty good at it as Id do it for both cars. The paint would always come in a red can and Id make a bulk purchase locally.

This year the paint came in a black can ---no big deal...It still says high temp white primer...We'll twice this year the paint has turned into a "milk shake vanilla color" and started to flake off. I start the car. shut it off, let it cool, etc...I've done this for a while now so I know how to do it..."break in the paint" that is....well, Im wondering if VHT has changed the formulation of their paint...My car isnt running "hot" as Ive checked my timing twice now....

Has anyone else run into this????

I'm thinking about going to the "other side" now anyway.... I can get these powder coated locally under 2 bills and "be done with it". They'll remain white, but I am curious if any of you have white coated headers and how they look...Ive always been sternly against coated headers on a Traditional car, but, painting these takes time...and Ive struck out twice (attached pics are from one 10 minute run around the neighborhood).

    thoughts or ideas?

I know this a post from sometime yesterday, but I thin k you got your products switched. I have VHT white header paint on a couple of things around here and it seems to hold up pretty well, comes in a red can too. You just mentioned VHT white primer - which is a very different product. The primer is made to be an intermediate coat for the protection the paint gives. I just bought some VHT white paint from Loper's here in town the other day, and it's the same nice white it always has been , red can too.
