not absolutely sure about anything. after i put this thing back together with my newly bashed floorboard, i'm going to take it to walmart and have them balance the wheels. i'm running 54lbs of pressure in them now so any unbalanced tire is going to be bumpy. but i had to redo that floorboard anyway. yeah, we did that long ago and it was vibrating badly but that was when the driveshaft was out of phase. haven't done it again but will soon. might get the tires balanced first though. soon...... later this evening, after i get the insulation, carpet and seat back in, i'll drain that fluid and loosen the trans mount then re-tighten all the trans bolts. then tighten that mount down.
Borntolose ,you are not crazy hes just making you that way,54 lbs of air in the tires and headed to WalMart, somebody call and let them know hes coming,Dragsta you are a spacecase that won"t listen to anybody, fliud sloshing around,Dang man,the more good advice you get the more stupid **** you come up with. That truck should run away from home.
put your bike in the back put your helmet on and drive to florida by way of "frisco" i'll bet you did not listen to your parent's or your teacher's ... rebels have to have a cause ... not just a bad at***ude
promise? i beat on that floorboard and installed it. so far so good. it 's not hitting the trans anywhere now but most of the floor bolt holes don't line up. enough to hold it down though. need a beer break...
A simple test/cure requires about 1 mile of open road, a freeway overp***, a driver (you) and a video camera operated from a second vehicle. 1) Make sure there is no traffic in either direction. 2) Get in your truck alone. 3) Have camera operator in second vehicle follow you as you accelerate to 60-70 mph. 4) As you approach the overp***, veer into it and open your door and jump out. 5) Post video on the HAMB. 6) Go to hospital. That should cure rattles, vibrations, carpet glue, long bolts, pinion angles, u joint phasing, atf, 40 weight, gear oil, type f, dexron, insulation, body lift kits, body bushings, tire pressure, sandpaper noise, hammer bashing, br*** in oil, endless tech posts, and that pesky move to Florida.
Its not that I don"t like he thread,I get a kick out of it,then after all your silly *** posts you throw up a picture of a chopped up floorboard,if you don"t do something with the floorboard you are going to hear noises all the time.I suggest as everybody else has tried to beat into your thick*** head, take the truck to Frisco and be done with it.A 1 day tops install has turned into 2-MONTH h***le.
Badshifter that is just funnier than ****,I want a copy, next he"ll be asking for a roadmap. You ought to frame that ****.
um brad: i really don't care what you think, ok. go away. be disrespectful to someone in person and see what happens.
If you ever do get to Florida shoot me a pm and I"ll be glad to give you my address.Ain"t no fence around my property, see you soon.
Did you dial indicate the bell housing? If it is out ,this will cause all kinds of vibrations also too "straight" of a drive shaft angle will do it too. Go to hurst drive line conversions web site to see about dialing in the bell housing the vette i did was out 36 thousands, the spec is 5 thousands
Try looking in the junkyards for a 1 ton or med duty truck. The factory pans for the bigger trucks are raised up & look cool. I picked up a pan off a 1959 1 ton Chevy Viking that has a 2" dome built into it (unlike my original "flat" one)
george: no, i'll check out that hurst page and see what that's about. thanks... tjet: yeah, i will look around for one. the mod i did on it is working though so it will stay this way for a while. while i was at it, i improved what was there before with some aluminum sheet metal. the entire mess will be covered with a thin piece of rubber then insulation and carpet. it should tide me over for a while until i find another floorboard.
Wow. I can't believe this project has been so tough. I put a T5 in my 63 C10 last winter. All I've done to it since then is drive the **** out of it. No vibration, no sandpaper noise or nothing. Just smooth shifts and better mileage with two extra gears. Oh, I did blow out my heater core last week, but I doubt that's ****** related. Not tryin' to be a jerk, but it does sound like a fresh set of eyes looking at it is definitely in order. I'd throw in the towel and go see texoutsider. Just sayin'. Might do wonders for the blood pressure.
george: that hurst driveline page has some good PDF files which i downloaded. most pertinent to my issue is the speed at which my vibration occurs. they say that it's likely a wheel or tire. lower speed vibrations are likely the driveshaft, which is what i had in spades until i got a new shaft built. so after i get this mess put back together, i'm getting the tires balanced.
i spoke to outsider by phone and i might drag the truck up there if i can't figure it out myself. if i get this vibration fixed, i still will be concerned about that sandpaper noise i keep hearing in 5th. maybe it's because i have the trans open to the cab i don't know....
