might be a good idea to change both fronts, and save the "good" one for a spare.

This seven year tire deal does seem like a sales gimmic but tires are not lasting and more are bulging oor separating. Something about how they are now made. ?????
As an old fart, back in the good ole days we bought NOS tires that had sat in storage 10-20 years and had no problems. Also drove cars with tires so old Abe Lincoln may have blown his own breath into them to air them up with no problems. A tire wasn't old till the tread was gone and the tire was bald.

I wrote yesterday about the girlfriends car, and problems we had with that, but in the last 4 or 5 years, I have been going through front tires on the Plymouth more than expected, too. We're not talking wear issues either. Everything on that car is dead straight, always. But separation issues there as well. I seem to get about two years out of a 205/60-15 on the front of that car before it gets pregnant and starts to come apart. I had always chalked it up to how hard I drive the thing, but after last month's deal with her car, I don't know.

Only ever happened on front, never on back.

I've had one do that on my OT car, on the way home from a trip. Luckily we were close to my work and my wife's car was there, so we just swapped stuff into hers and I fixed it later.

It was weird, started off pretty faint but quickly got much, much worse.

well i did talk to Coker today and they sound as though they will warranty the tire (which they should) but i will no for sure tommorrow. I think i am going to go ahead and replace the other front tire. As many highway runs as i make in the ol' truck itd prolly be the best way to go.

That isn't a new thing by any means but it does seem to happen more often than it used to.

I don't think it was age as much as hitting a pot hole with the tire or the layers of the cord separating due to one of several possible reasons.

  9. I had a 5 year old inner dual on the motor home do that a few months ago. I didn't even know it until someone riding behind me pulled me over to tell me.

Funny thing was, when we dismounted the tire, the bubble stayed intact.
The air was trapped in there, yet you couldn't see how it got there..

Not in your case but the sun UV rays & heat on the steel bands can raise hell if the tires are exposed. I've had tires on the car hauler come apart just setting outside. The trailer hasn't move in years. I now take the wheels & store them inside, also great anti-theft device. Dismounted an old sears tire off a K-H bentspoke wheel last week that had been setting outside in a wrecking yard. Couldn't get the valve stem out so broke it down anyway. The tube still had air in it & looked like new but the outer rim was toast & the spokes & hub were great shape. coulda bought it for 35.00 but the rust was too bad.

  11. I've had good trailer tires (45 psi) go out of round big time, just sitting here in the summer sun.
A simple set of Harbor Freight $10 tire covers solved the problem after I finally wised up.
