That's pretty damn cool. Nice Job. I couldn't give up 76 hp on the street. I'd have to find different "hats" as you called them (never heard that one before). Put it this way Let's say you can have a 400 hp car or a 476 hp car. Which do you want? Ummm... I'll take door option number two please!
So...the thing is, I don't think of it as 76 more. I think of it as these little scoops cost that much hp @ 5900. I've only had em on the car for a month or so. I'm just glad I learned how restrictive they are BEFORE the HAMB drags. Hope to see you guys @ there!
Mickey Thompson.......er..........uh........Radirs The Hursts sure are pretty though. I might like to try a pair someday. See for myself how they measure up. They look good, they are cheaper & from what I've read, it's easier to get your hands on a pair.
Cool Vid! DW...if those hats are higher than you grill shell, they won't cost you too much HP when they are getting force fed air at speed. For those who don't know... tuning a car on a chassis dyno is the best way to tune a motor (in my opinion) it saves sooo much time! My Bro and I have always tuned our cars this way. So when you go to the track all you have to work on is hooking up and running straight (which can be a problem in itself).
what size wheels are you running? i have a pair of hurst tires on 235/70 casings, mounted on 15x7 (uni-lug) american torq-thrusts. i can through 'em in the van and bring 'em to joplin. i'd be interested in seeing if there's much difference between the two on the track...
Hmmmm.... good looking... but this may be the single best reason for "NOT" running them at the track! Might have to sell mine!
A very kind offer indeed. They are 10x15's. I am gonna run modern slicks this time out though. I can't imagine that I'd be able to get one to hook better than the other. I am more curious to learn how they handle on the big end & how they behave on the street/longevity, that kinda thing. These Radirs are 4 yrs old I think? They have taken some serious punishment on & off the track & they are still in great shape. (Just a little shorter due to the missing rubber hahaha) Still, I may wanna try some Hursts on for size soon. See how they hold up to my abuse. Thank you for the offer.
Dunno Bill. I haven't ever seen or used theirs. Bout the same I'd imagine though. Phil over @ Auto tek knows his stuff & I enjoyed working w/ him. Thanks again Phil!
First its D.W. vs. the Chevy now its D.W. vs. the Dyno ,whats next D.W. takes on the world and kicks some**** !!! looking good...
The equipment seemed the same to me, but I don't know much. Both are Dynojets. When I did mine, we just went and made two pulls to get a baseline. I wanted to know where I was with my street tune, cruising around town setup. I've made some changes and will get back there to see what the improvements are. Steve and Dan, at Classic, were very nice and accomodating. The both seemed to really know there stuff. DW's was more of a tuning session than mine. He made changes to the car over a few hour period and made several pulls. Phil helped the whole way with suggestions and guidance from what he was seeing in the plugs and what the Dyno was telling us. So, the short answer is that I was impressed with both.
DW and I are both going to run "real" slicks at Mokan. I may be able to set up a side by side comparison test, though. Headhunter is planning on bolting my 8.5" Radirs on his sedan at the track. Maybe we can talk him into changing tires to see which hook up best on his car. We've done this one other time with Crease's coupe at the Day of the Drags. The Radirs were the clear winners that day, on that car. I'd be interested on seeing another real life test. The Hurst 30x8's are likely my next street tire.
i'll throw 'em in the back! they'll fit either a 4 1/2 or 4 3/4 bolt pattern with a mag shank lug nut. they're very slightly used, so there's plenty of life left...
Having only run about 10 runs in my entire life, I'm probably not the best guy to give you a real accurate comparison since I'm likely to screw up a whole bunch of things on each run. But I'm game if you'd still like me to run 'em back to back... thanks again, Buzzard, for letting me try out the Radirs!
Hey Glen. Yes I'm running tubes. Air pressure? I don't remember. I think it was 12 or 13 psi but the left rear looks low in that pic. Hell, meybe they both do.
I think we need more info on the APD race now that LAW hopped in. Come on give up the juice, stir it up, whata ya got, spill the beans.
