i was just trying to say that the Village Idiots wasn't mandatory. i do understand your reasons for sitting it out for awhile, there's nothing wrong with that. it's cool that you put this together and i'm suprised it went on as long as it did. it does suck that more people weren't coming, especially now with the weather being so nice.

Damn Bob, sucks to think your throwing in the towel dude. my biggest problem for not making it to the tower were my work hours, i'd go when i could make it. and i do find it odd that their were more people in the rainy months than in the summer, it doesn't make sense?? i'll still continue to pop up when ever possible if the other village idiots decide to keep it going. it was cool to b.s. for a little bit and meet some new faces. Thanks Bob for all your efforts dude, they are much appreciated, hope you have a change of hart and decide to join the rest of the Idiots, one last HooRaw maybe????

  3. This says it all and also explains why I will keep attending.

Tuesday night is something to look forward too...so is the Saturday morning breakfast. I don't look at either as an "obligation" or a committment or someplace "I have to be". I enjoy the drive out and back and I genuinely like the people that are there. I don't really care if there's 50 people or 5...it doesn't matter. It's just nice to go out and talk cars and bullshit about HAMB posts or whatever else is going on with your friends. Hell, some of the best nights at the tower only had 4 or 5 guys out past 10 in parking lot in the wind and the cold.

I guess my point is that I have met some of the nicest people at the Tuesday night gathering. Norm, Clint and Rob worked on my car the first night I was there to make sure I made it home with headlights (thanks again guys). We all wished Kyle well on his last night before shipping off to basic training. We congratulated Dave on the newest addition to his family. We helped Norm out when some low life ruined Christmas for is family. Rob debuted "The Lot" under the tower. Clint took ownership of "The Rebel" on a Tuesday night...and it hasn't been seen since.

Long story short...I'm still showing up when I can. I hope a few others will too...and I'll still make it to breakfast on Saturday (with Bob and his gas station hat) when I can. I need the bacon to maintain my figure.

  4. To you guys who seem to be "BUSY" every tuesday night. I'm bringin the Merc tomorrow, since i'm going with Cruzr to look at a car saturday. Not gonna leave the Merc in Hunington Beach and drive to Santa Barbera, and expect Tetanus Shot to leave it alone! I heard guys write on cars with sharpes over there! HA HA!

  5. So,you Idiots comin,or not? Don't make me regret changing my mind!

  6. Well, I support Bad Bob in whatever he decides. It's not in the cards for me unless I have Tuesday and Wednesday off. Long trip against traffic followed by an early wake up. A bitch for an old guy.

But Bob's a creative dude and too much fun. So, I'll hang on for the next "Bad Bob's Bad Idea".

  9. Nice timing for me after my "soap box" speech...I can't make it tomorrow night. I have to fly out to Atlanta tomorrow morning for a quick turnaround trip. "Mini Hoovs" and I will in for breakfast on Saturday though...have fun!

i'll be there. i cant wait to see the flame job.

  11. I ran into another HAMBer at the John Force show, and he said he's been wanting to come for a while, and plans on being there tomorrow. He was pissed when I said I was done with it. He said if I wasn't there,he wouldn't go. Pretty humbling to hear that. So I told him I would be there. I'm not into drama,so I wasn't just "pouting",I was tired of going and three guys show up! Don't get offended if you were one of the three guys, cause it wasn't about WHO showed up. I don't like it when someone says they're comin and don't. Maybe i'm having a change of heart, cause I have my car back,I don't know.

  12. Here's an idea.
How about the FIRST tuesday of the month, instead of every tuesday. Does that sound better? How about some feedback...

I know I'm one of the guys who just came once:rolleyes:...but I think once a month would be better...I think it would be a better turn out also....don't give up on the Idiots....I'll be back around soon...car is getting closer...

  14. Yea. I'll have to contact Dave Linsey,so he can change it on his Event calendar, and make new fliers.
I think your right. Once a month might be better.

i think once a month is better, my mom has been saying it should be once a month foe awhile, haha. think of it as if you ate at the same place every tuesday, eventually you'll get burnt out on it. thats how it was with me, and i'm on the same page with Bob on it being the same people. nothing against you guys, but it would be nice to see a new face or two to change things.

Outlaw, i'm still not convinced you showed up, i'll have to get with Bob on that. you can show up even if your car isn't ready.

  16. I'm working on a new deal too.
"Bob's Bad Idea" (kinda like a "Village Idiots Road Tour") LOL!
First saturday night of the month get together,at different "greasy spoons". Different cities, different cars would come, different people would come. All SoCal locations. I would announce where the next stop would be on the HAMB and at the location. Maybe make up some shirts too.
What do you think? Give me some feedback. Any suggestions will help.

Im one of those guys who always wants to go but can never get there. first its a long slow drive from downtown LA to home in the afternoon getting out around 5pm. then to get the car and cruise on up to the Idioits is about another 45 mins. just finishing off and tring to get CO on a new school is not making it easy to do anything other then work! hopefully soon I will be back to a normal schdule and be able to make it out to hook p with you guys. just hope its not so late that theres no more tues night cruise.... keep it going BOB!

  18. We were talking about that at breakfast. I like that idea. We kind thought a sort of guerrilla cruise, where the town and even the diner don't know we're coming 'til we just show up. The Long Beach/Bellflower guys can pick a route and cruise together. IMO, the coolest thing is to see the cars in MOTION. When we left the Anti- Donut last sat, Burny, '60 Coupe, His Royal Badness and two cars I can't recall their names and me tooled down Huntington Beach's Main street to PCH, then went our seperate ways. The looks on the people on Main was so cool, because, it wasn't just one car. You could see them say, "Hey look, Ethel, there's a bunch of hot rods there". When you're just running by yourself, you don't get to see the reaction as well. I like it. Let's do it!

  19. The only thing I have to plan is, where,is there enough parking, how's the food, directions. I'm not going to announce our coming in advance. We will just roll in.

Hey Bad Bob, I just joined the HAMB tonight and was reading your Tuesday night thread. I used to live in Orange, a few miles from the Circle and know what it is like to keep pumpimping up a weekly get together. I now live in AZ and met some rockabilly/rat rodders who wanted to do the same thing. Anyway, long going short, they found a very cool bar/restaurant to host a weekly Tuesday night gig for cars and specials without having to do the motivational speaking rountine themselves. The bar has rockabilly music to support the deal. Alot of people come dressed the old style clothes; Betty Boops and Daddy'Os everywhere. Lots of Lucky Strikes packs rolled up in white Teee shirt sleeves. The bar is the "Blooze Bar" (google it)in Phoenix. Maybe you can find a kewl place like that in OC, get them involved, let them promote it and you relax for the escape you need. One of the biggest national level cruises every Saturday night is here in Scottsdale, about 250 - 350 cars show up most Saturdays, with a cool DJ broadcasting and it is sponsored by the Pavillions Center Mickey D's that a car nut guy owns. Anyway, maybe find a very cool, back to the old days diner, car friendly restaurant/bar, shopping center; get them to sponsor and promote; pass it off for awhile and keep smilin. I think the real key is to make these get togethers a family event, everybody has fun and us guys get to do our car thing. Charlie in Hot-a-zona

  21. Well,I don't want it to be like a cruise night. I wanted it to be more like when we would hang out at the Scotty's on Whittier Blvd, trying to get a race together. Telling lies, checking out each others progress on our cars. Making fun of each other. In the year that we have been meeting there,i've only seen two chairs. We usually walk around and chat by each car,get something to eat, then chat some more. Really laid back.

First tuesday of the month sounds good. I know I have only attended twice, but with the earlier work schedule and working on projects at the house, its making it harder to head out on the weekdays.

I like this idea, sounds like fun. How about we cruise Whittier Blvd like back in the day?

Just called Bob and he said he will be there tonight and so will I. Next Tuesday will kick off the month to month thing.

  25. I starting counting how many SoCal HAMBers there are on the HAMB,and stopped at about 80! So I know there's more of you guys out there!
Maybe once a month will change things.

  26. I'll be there about 6:45.

I like the idea of the of an LA/OC diner tour. It will give me the chance to taste test burritos from all across the area.
