Vin/Chassis # location on a 36 Ford ??

Hey,
Trying to track down the Vin or Ch***is number on a 36 Ford roadster, anyone know where to look ? tried firewall like the local ones but I don't see it, also drivers side ch***is rail in the engine bay but to no luck, any other suggestions ?

 

Mine is adjacent to the steering box on the top of the frame.....

 

Ive found them in these locations on 35-40 frames.

Irish Mike is correct, should be a star stamped at the beginning and at the end of the serial number.

 

Should be somewhere 18-2207111 through 18-3331856

 

thanks for the info guys, I have been looking near the steering box, will check again, the area has been "cleaned" up with a grinder by the looks..... Thx also Flatheadhero, that gives us somewhere else to look should we need.
