Where do they hide the chassis and or body numbers on a what is believed to be 1947 Dodge? What other clues separate a '47 from a 48 or 49? Also... where would be a good place to get a rear corner window??
I had a 52 awhile back, maybe yours would be the same?? My "VIN" numbers on the title were the numbers on the engine block. the vehicle number was on the drivers door frame, but when I did my VIN verification to get it titled in CA, they just checked the engine numbers and sent me on my way.
There is a 'secret' VIN (or serial number as it was called back then) on these cars. Pull a rear wheel and sand the side of the frame rail right where it passes over the rear axle. The VIN is stamped there. I don't remember if this is on the driver's or passenger's side. My old man was a NYCPD detective - auto squad - and he knew the locations of all the secret VINs. Way back in the day, of course.
No "VIN" number per say, just the serial number on the drivers side door frame. It will by the hingees on the fwd section. Body number is under hood upper firewall on drivers side small oval tag. Engine number is next to the dizzy on a small machined pad. 46-48 same car..49 first generation same car butterfly hood is the give away First pic 41 second 46-48 third 46-48
