I'm looking at a 1962 GMC long bed truck in my area, and the guy says it doesn't have a vin number, which makes me a little sketched out about the truck,. Does anyone know where the vin location would be on it in case he just doesn't know where it would be at?

  2. The vin on the 60-63 gm trucks is located on the drivers side "a" pillar.

That's usually where it is but I've also seen the tag on the drivers side door jam above the door instead of on the A piller. That's where it was on my '65, '66, and '62.

Other than no vin, it doesn't have problems. 350/350 combo, body work done and in primer, clean truck, lowered. I'm wondering if there's a vin number stamped anywhere other than some kind of data plate

I don't remember if the GMCs have the vin on the frame...Chevys do, on top of the driver side frame rail in front of the firewall, and also under the cab. But GMCs are kinda different than chevys
