I need some help figuring out the year of my Dodge truck cab. I was told when I bought the truck cab it was a '37, but today I took the serial number tag off the old firewall to save it to put back on the new firewall. Anyhow, after cleaning the old paint off to where I could read the numbers, the last numbers are 20335. Are the last two numbers the year it was made?
Get some good old brakefluid. let the tag soak in the fluid. It will take some days maybe a week or to. the´n just rinse in cold water. If its of aluminium i would check it every day,the brakefluid may harm it.
If it helps you any.......My truck is a 1938 Dodge and the last 4 numbers in the serial # are 7291. NOW......Let me tell you a bit about what happened to the numbers on my title.........I am fortunate enough to be the 3rd actual owner of this truck. Owner #1 bought it new In St.Louis and had it until 1978 When the second owner purchased it,the state of Missouri, transposed the ENGINE# to the serial#. That is fine if you plan on keeping the original engine in it. I did not plan on doing that!!! When I bought the truck and got it to Ohio,I had ALL the paper work to prove what had happened, and I had the BMV change the numbers back the way they belong. I had to sign a notorized paper stating that the paper work I had was correct and legal. After that,chango-switcho and I was back in business. They left the engine number on the title, and just called it a "conversion number" BUT,the ONLY thing that saved my ass was the paper trail...... Keep ALL your documents.............
