i bought a 1957 olds 88 4 door hardtop to make my daily driver. it has the 371 4v, hydramatic, p/s and p/b. the local guy bought it new and in 1987 started to restore it. he had the interior kit from jc whitney, new brake system, new dual exhaust, suspension etc. then the poor guy died of cancer. the car has set for about 40 years in a garage. the guys grandaughters husband tried to get it running but failed. so i hauled it home and installed new points and arranged the plug wires in the proper order. it started, blowing so much smoke we had to exit the garage. i still have to repair the brakes, fx a bad dent in the rr quarter, change all fluids, and so on. when i get it done, i want to take it to the grand daughter and let her drive it. the vin is 577m15640. where can i decode it? thanks.
