I bought a 1926 Es*** Super Six Coupe recently and got the ***le with it . There is a vin # on the ***le but there is not one on the body . I basically bought the body to put on a custom frame I am building . I need to take it to a state safety inspector and get an ID/OD but it has to have a vin tag on it so he can verify the vin on the ***le matches the vin tag on the body . Is there some place to buy a vin tag for it with my vin # on it that I can put on it ? Thanks .
No. If you still have the original engine with it, the engine number is probably the same as what is on the ***le. Check the engine number. That will likely solve your problem.
lots of vin # threads , id read some before doing anything. best bet is to check with your local dmv to see what they want. skull
All states are different but in Ct. you get the car safety inspected and they will issue there own Ct. vin tag on the car.
Look on the exposed portion of the frame at the back, near the bumper, on the p***enger's side. Back where the rear of the rear spring attaches to it. Seems to me it's back there, stamped into it, on the top. It could be as short as four numbers or as many as seven or eight.
Look where Patrick suggests first. If it is not there, rigorously research your state's laws before proceeding. Official numbers such as serial numbers and VINs are serious business in most states, like felony-cl***. Educate yourself, and stay out of trouble.
Thanks for all the info . I'll check the frame rail first . Then proceed . Maybbe if I can find one original existing # on it , Mo. state dmv might issue a cowl tag ?!?!? Worth a shot .
Hey, chuck, I got this info from the Hudson guys at cl***iccar.com, about the Es*** VIN and engine numbers... From a Branham's Automobile Reference Book, covering the mid-to-late 20's, says: Serial number on six cylinder models on top face of rear cross member. Motor number on six cylinder models on pad of crankcase just above oil gauge on left side of motor.
