  4. Quick Glo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best chrome polish ever! When I moved to MPLS in 95 I was working at a bike shop that did a lot of Schwinn restorations and they turned me onto this. It simply is amazing what it will do to the crustiest chrome. I turned a $50 Schwinn D into a $400 sale just by using this on the chrome. https://quick-glo.com/

This bike was the exact color and make of bike I had from 8-12 when I first got it the forks broke and the man at the hardware store sold me a set of "heavy duty" forks (actually forks for a 24 or 26" bike) so I had one the first "choppers" on the block...could do wicked jumps and wheelies...then the forks broke again and I moved leaving it behind...flash forward 36 years and I find this...originally a met. red Leader brush painted black (just like mine was) and with another pair of forks....hmmm is it possible this frame made it 1/2 way across the province and back to me??? It was stripped and I tried to find parts to build it but no luck...coaster brake wheels, goose necks, seat posts, pedals and in particular sissy bars cant be found anymore so I modified some later BMX parts and let it go to thin down the herd 332.jpg 333.jpg

My score from yesterday. Barn fresh '55 Schwinn Phantom girls model. Only built in 1955 in a girls bike. Pretty sweaty but all there and unmolested.
    Besides I like sweaty girls 20201212_123153.jpeg 20201212_123226.jpeg 20201212_123211.jpeg 20201212_123234.jpeg

  11. DSC_1308.JPG Now I know that this might not completely fit here but my daughter was very proud of what we built out of her prized Schwinn bike. It was a ART project for a refrigerator recycling program in Chicago by COMED. She named it the "CAMPERATOR" and it was placed on Michigan Ave for all to see..Unfortunately this is the only pic I have block party and school 024.jpg of it. She picked out the fridge and I had garbage picked the BRAND NEW Schwinn Breeze from a pile in front of a rich persons house years earlier. She was of driving age so she didn't ride the bike anymore. It was a great father daughter project that neither of us will forget. Also a pic of my 61 Corvette that I also found out infront of someones house, custom touches by me.....pay no mind to the young HOODLUMS, theyre all 15 years older now....Mitch View attachment 4911594 View attachment 4911594 View attachment 4911594

    Wow, lots of neat bikes!
Can I show what I gave my little buddy Zander this Christmas? One of those old West Coast Choppers bicycles. It was beat up and rusty. Acid dipped the frame, sandblasted some parts, stripped and polished others. Smoothed the welds on the tank and a little paint. The only new parts are the handle grips and the shorty front fender. Rebuilt the coaster brake and all the mechanical of course. Recovered the torn seat with real leather from an old lambskin coat. Just shiny black and chrome.

I love bikes, especially vintage bikes. I have a few stingrays, a schwinn mini twinn, a couple of balloon tire units, and have been searching for a nice prewar bike. I found, and was given, a rough, ladies prewar Iver Johnson last year, but have been looking for a men’s version for a few years. My antique-selling friend called me this week to ask my thoughts on some bikes that he picked up this week. Amongst the usual 70s stuff were these two. Straight, wooden rims, original paint. Only one has a headbadge and it is marked Bigelow and Dorse, Boston, Mass. and called a “Shamut”. I’d like to make him a fair offer, what would anyone suggest?

Looks like you could be a member of the Fab Four Ron.
It also looks like the center of your gravity is behind the rear axle centerline. Wheelies must have been effortless, if not manageable.

What is CABE? I used the Google machine and it gave me various Associations for Bilingual Education.
