Kevin, Is the snout and idler arm magnesium? The front cover looks like standard GMC. Got any more pictures of it?
Some good stuff here... Been thinking about picking up the pieces to do this at some point. The Mercedes position thing, is pretty crazy looking! Reminds me of some Auto Union stuff.
No more pictures on hand. That hub and shaft to the left of the cover are for that snout. It's not magnesium though, just dirty. haha. I've looked it over for any sort of marking and haven't found anything yet.
I'm interested in this carb. set up, looks like aircraft carbs. Not quite as big but I've seen these on Packard/Allison 1710s
You're right, and most sanctioning bodies required chain guards after some of the chains broke and headed for the spectators. Howard's Cams built a fully-enclosed chain drive for SBCs, and maybe other engines as well. Would be great to run one of these -- or one of Tom Beatty's multiple belt drives. Neither chains or v-belts worked as well as the Gilmer, but for the nostalgia effect, they would be great. btw, who first ran a Gilmer setup? The first I remember was on Don Montgomery's fuel coupe with the ScoT blown Chrysler.
more proof that aluminum pulleys were actually traditional. Why not duplicate the setup on the first page, just don't polish the aluminum leave it natural. Someone should be able to make you a set with a cnc pretty easy.
kinda reminds me of a Beatty snout, without the intregal triangle cover and yeah, looks like you have the front cover on upside down
could it be a Beatty snout thats had the fins machined back for a different idler pully setup? Looks like it may have had longer fins at one time.
Yeah, there is no evidence of there being something there that was removed. (triangle cover) It all looks as cast. I might give it a really close look later to see if there are any marks on it.
Look at the prices of Blower Kits in 1961 That was big money back then. Im sure you could have bought Model T's and A's all day long for that. Thats great info!
------------------------------ That's the most unique and weirdest 6-71 blower set-up I've ever seen.. Any more details on what we're looking at here? Inquiring minds *need* to know!!! Mart3406 =====================
Heres an ISKY setup for SBC, these are scans of 1964 or 65 street rodder. I bought one of these setups last year and am building a motor around it. The belt runs the water pump with a rather large pully
Here's some pics of one I bought years ago along with a bunch of other hemi stuff. I've never been able to find out anything on this. The top pulley presses on & there is a hub/coupler that bolts to the pulley.
Weiand Note the second pair of gears that would have allowed for ratio change Beatty, Cragar, Pete's and early Delta Isky and Mickey Thompson
I still like the old Potvin mount. I want this for the setup on the 42 Chevy 4 door/2 door conversion when I finally get to build the car in my avvy. The main reason is I want t run a flat head 346 Caddy V8. I don't think they made a manifold for that engine, lol.
Kent Endrele of Endrele Injectors ran this front-mounted sideways (endways?) blower on his lakes roadster...you can see a early version of his barn-door injector...motor was a Dodge.
GT Bearing plate!! Do you have any more info on this? I got one of these with my setup! who made it? how old is it?
