History Vintage "Cageless" Midget Picture Thread

Maybe a golf cart, ATV, or industrial cart???

 

I hope not,it is on a 1935 midget with axles I will get a picture of the car.

 

I’m with the Flyer on this one.

No quick changes till late 30’s, open axles a little later. This is not a quick change yet open axles. Why would anyone build that for a midget?

Let’s see what other elements are on this mid 30’s car.

 

Looking for ID on these steering box castings. Based on what I've seen, they don't seem to be Schroeder, Evans, Halibrand, Norden, or Casale.
Looks to take Franklin guts possibly. Anybody recognize it? Thanks!

This is the earliest Cragar catalog I've seen. I believe it to be 1936 or so. Has 'Cragar Improved Head' which came out in '35, but no mention of V8-60 stuff, so likely not '37 or later.
No Schroeder brakes, probably not available yet, but Cragar Junior head is listed for Waukesha, including some Waukesha specs.

 

Looks like a early Schroeder, similar to the one in the original Spaulding brothers track roadster.

At first, I dont know anything at all of these racers... I think none in Finland...

Are there any of these in market anymore as low cost project Most common Kurtis Kraft? ... Just came into my mind as I have one 17 bolt flattie and recommended not to put it into the real car anymore... But if somewhere is rolling Midget racer projects still available at giveaway price, (Means owner wish someone to try to save it..Than see big bucks in totally rot racer..) it would be correct use for my engine...make something around it..

Just to decoration use, but must run offcourse. Need to be possible to drive it on yard some sunny days and smell gasoline.

 

Back in the late 40s a neighbor, in the country, had a midget. I was 8 or 9 yo. He let me drive it a few times. Had to push start to get it going. It was pretty crude in some areas.
Many years later he told me it had an outboard eng. I think Koenig. I missed buying it by a month later in life.

 

Your cheapest option is going to be using a reproduction body, like the one Josh Shaw offered. From that you can construct a chassis of more commonly available model T parts and similar flotsam.

 

Hi everyone. I found this picture of my Great Grandfathers offy from 1950. Otis Stine and Fred Carpenter are two drivers I know raced for him. Just curious if anyone has any info about "Hoppe's Offy". I was able to source a picture of the car with Fred in it a couple years ago.

I'm really looking for this picture of Otis Stine in the car. Its from Walter Imlay's collection, and I found it online but I would really love the original if anyone had it.

Fuzzy Fassbender Rubicon Wisconsin. I think about 1950. See the modern midget in back. Fuzzy was a damn good driver. Later to win the M S C modified championship. I think this car had a Studebaker Champion engine. Could not get out of it's own way. I saw Fuzzy run a 1937 Ford in a 100 lap race at Cedarburg Wisconsin about 1951. R R axle broke at the inner end. It came out quite a ways then back in for 2 laps. Then came out all the way. Race won by the GREAT Miles the Mouse Melius. Former 2 time Badger Midget champion and several time M S C modified champion.

 

Hi Dale,
I haven’t been able to come up with any documentation on the Sesco Chevy engine. I have one all aluminum engine as well as two iron head/ cylinder engines. You may already know, but the crankshaft is from a Chevy II, and all the main engine components are standard Chevy stuff so an overhaul is pretty straightforward. The part that’s unique, of course, is the front drive assembly.

 

Ron Hoetels. SESCO designer, builder. Not sure of the spelling. Lived close to me 35 years ago in Richfield Wis.

 

I'm lovin' everything about his car - the wheels and especially the tires, the bodywork, the crash bars.
