Can't help with any history on the car, but Johnny Zeke's real name was John Zukowski. He was an outstanding midget & stock car driver .. in his spare time he was a real dapper starter in the 50's at the Riverhead (NY) Raceway, he also promoted some at the Deer Park (NY) Speedway. I believe he was also an airline pilot. He & his wife retired to Thousand Oaks, Calif. He passed away some years ago.

They're calling for possibly rain on Sunday (at least for here on Long Island, NY) .. so we're going to have to watch and follow the forecast (on the Internet, I guess) for Warren, NJ re the show there scheduled for this Sunday (the 12th).

I've checked the Web Site and there doesn't seem to be a phone number to call on Sunday, in case the weather is so, so.

    http://www.warrennjcarshow.org
I've eMailed the show chairman, to see if there is one or not. If I don't receive a reply, I'll give Ken Brenn a call.

It'd be nice to have a phone number to call, rather than driving &/or towing the full distance & possibly being disappointed.

If it does rain (I hope not) .. the rain date is the following Sunday, the 19th.

Meanwhile, I've accumulated some of the cell numbers of the folks planning to be there. How's 12:30 for a time for us to get together there????? .... If that that time is OK .. I'll call everyone approx. 1/2 hour before as to exactly where, etc..

I'll post this on the sprint car & modified threads too.

Not to get off topic but does anyone have an e-mail address for Joe Feori ? ( I might be spelling his last name wrong?
He's from the New England area and restores midgets.

I can't seem to get ahold of him by phone.

    PM or E-mail me

    Thanks

The extended forecast for Sunday, the 12th (right now on Friday evening) for the Warren, NJ area and the show there that Ken Brenn is such a big part of is 60% chance of rain.

    http://www.warrennjcarshow.org

Of course we've all seen forecast like that, on the day in question and not seen a drop of rain, yet other times it has poured.

If you planning on going &/or bringing a car, it might be a good thing to follow both the National Weather Service forecast and Doppler Radar for that area, here on the Internet.

If the weather on Sunday is still questionable, Ken Brenn has given me his cell phone number, for those on their way to call. .. I'm not going to openly publish it here, but if you're going and feel that you might need it .. either PM (Private Message) me &/or eMail me at ken_schou@verizon.net and I'll give it to you.

Ken (Brenn) plans to be at the show site, early Sunday morning.

You were right Jim. The Bennett Brothers did buy the pink car from Brenn.

In speaking to Brenn, he expanded on the story. A couple of parts of it sure made me chuckle.

I do not think very many of those engines were built. What I was told they did it that way to help the 60 run cooler.

The next event coming up (that I'm aware of) is the ATQMRA (American Three Quarter Midget Racing Association) Pinebrook Speedway Reunion at the Teterboro Airport (Route 46 & Industrial Road in Teterboro, NJ).

It's part of the Wings and Wheels Show which is Saturday the 25th and Sunday the 26th (September) at the airport.

The ATQMRA will have an area set up with race cars on display and big wheel races for the kids.

The show also has classic cars and planes on display and a stage with bands and music.

$12.00 for adults, children under 12 $7.00, chidren under 3 free.
Also active military personal free and veterans free.

The Yellow Badger may be the car Billy Mann drove. I have to look at some old NEMA year books and some of my picutres from back in the day. Johnny drove Dewey Cali's car and it was orange with a Chevy II. I was working with Dewey back in '76 and remember the trip to the midwest but I could not get the time off from work to go with him.

The Werle #02 is alive and well .. faithfully restored and can be seen usually parked next to a replica AJ Foyt Watson roadster at many shows here in the east.

I don't know which one .. but Lenny Boyd is currently in the process of restoring one of the TQ's that his Dad built (from the ground up).

The Badger that Billy Mann drove was at first an Offy, then later that was replaced by a SESCO.

My creaky old brain kind of remebers it as being white, while a former neighbor of the Mann's thinks it was red.

Looking for info, photos, programs, anything on AMRA, the midget group that ran out of Michigan. Mainly '73 - '78. Especially interested in King Kramer, three time AMRA champion in mid 70's.

Also, anything on Gary Schooley out of Iowa. Ran BADGER as owner/driver in early 70's.

We are piecing together info and images for a Edmunds midget we are restoring. We know Kramer drove it in AMRA, but he has no photos, programs, etc. ???? Schooley ran it probably in '71 - '72. We have not been able to contact Schooley.

Car was originally the Lithgow Offy #28, but later ran SESCOs. Lithgow had the car from 1965 (new) until probably '70 - '71.

Update on car. Down to bare frame, bolt on cage and mounts are gone, have new Edmunds roll bar (thanks to a fellow HAMBer), installing correct front shock mounts, eliminating extra brackets, fabricating new drag link, etc. Big, heavy, all brass radiator (probably from late '50's) in shop for repair/rebuild/restoration.

Looking for information on the Jungle Park Reunion this Saturday.

Is there a web site or a contact? Saw mention of only 15 cars being there two years ago or so.

Can someone give me an overview of the number and variety of cars?

I'm aware it is static and there is no running other than a "parade" of starter and clutch/gearboxes. Have also been there on my own in the late '90's so it's the cars and the guys that are my main interest.

It's a long tow from Minnesota and I just returned from running Lima, OH 10 hours ago.

58 years ago today the racing world lost one of its greatest drivers at Allentown. RIP Bronco Bill Schindler.
