St Louis Mo-- They ran every Tuesday night after the war. All the big names, and they would have standing room only came every week.

Another Champion from the St. Louis area, Danny Frye in the George Middleton Offy. This beautiful car was originally built by, living legend A.J. Watson, for Norm Hall.

I like how they used the original rear radius rod mount for the nerf bar and added a new updated single rear radius rod in the back. Any idea what year the picture would have been taken. I have never seen a picture of a single tube frame car with that type of rear suspension.

I would guess around 1966-67. I am sure Danny Jr. will provide a precise answer.

Monkaz, Thank you for posting these beautiful high quality pictures. I love them!

Also, I've often wondered what the old Elto Powered Midget race cars sounded like and thought I might never find out. I just found out by accident and I think it sounds pretty damn cool!! If you're at all curious or just want to see/hear one run, check out this video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KZOxQenaq0&feature=related

    Gentlemen
New to site. I would like to talk to Rosco that was asking a question about Floyd Blakely on page 73 of this thread. I think I know the history on the Midget pictured.

    Thanks

Monkaz---Where did you find that picture? You were close it was taken on Memorial Day weekend 1967. The next weekend we ran St Charles Speedway in St Louis. Dad had just set fast time and we think a rod end broke in the middle of 3 and 4. Dad hit the fence and had all 4 wheels up on the wall. Then it hit a gate opening and just stoped and started to flip down the bank. On one of the flips it stuck the role bar all the way in the mud with Dad's elbow under the role bar. He ended up with a cruched left elbow, a broken back and kneck. He came back in September better than ever. I hate to tell you but AJ Watson didn't build that car George Shalia did. Per Mr Watson he never built a midget. Dad said that was one of the best midget he ever drove. It wasn't the same when they put a cage on it. Thank You for the kind words he was always my hero

    Danny,

Thanks for setting me straight on the builder of that car. I don't know why George never took credit for building such a nice car?

Is it possible that AJ Watson did some modifcation or rebuilding of the car?
