Vintage Car Ad Collection I have a weird hobby. I collect vintage car ads from old magazines. I have been doing it for 25 years and have about 50,000 ads from the '20s to present. Truth be known, I have no idea how many I have. It could be 100,000 or 200,000? They are all in binders. I probably have thousands of dollars invested in the clear sheet protectors. It becomes a great way to understand the automotive world from a marketing standpoint. The reason I bring this up is: I have searched the internet several times for any sort of 'vintage car ad collecting' message board or hobby club or something similar. I come up empty every time. Have any of you seen such a club or message board or mailing list? I would like to connect with other weird car ad collectors to make trades (I have 1,000s of duplicates) and find out that I'm not the only freak on the planet. Thanks!!
Now, that's funny, Thumper! I like old car ads, too. I used to have hundreds, but sold them to buy stuff for my Nomad.
What a cool hobby, I too collect old car ads but I only have 20 or 30. My daughters would call it S****-Booking but I just find pictures of cars and trucks that I like and put them into 3 ring binders and photo albums. Unlike some of these guys I can't afford to many real cars so I dream of the ones I can't have, besides it's something to do when it's to cold for my old bones outside.
I've got a couple of hundred, but don't persue collecting them much anymore......too many other things going on.
I have 2 boxes stuffed. I was thinking of selling most to pay med. bills. But I want to spend a long time scanning them so I can still look. Mine go back to the Pope Electric car.
