The Cl***ic motor show is held every year at the National Exhibition Centre here in the UK. It has grown over the years into a HUGE show (some 11 halls) which covers all facets of the cl***ic car world from early Bugatti's to Fiat 500's and everything in between. For the past 3 years the Vintage Hot Rod ***ociation has had a club stand there spreading the word about traditional hot rodding. It seems to be a worthwhile exercise given the many positive comments we get during the course of the show. Anyway I thought I would post a few pics of the cars that represented the club this year. These were taken on set up day hence the empty hall, it was a lot busier during the show! First up is Brett Pillinger's T bucket. The ch***is has been built by Pete (Nutrocker on here) and is a work of art! Dan Clare's 401 nailhead powered modified. Mart's survivor 33 coupe. Graham Watkins 32 roadster. Sue Sawyer's A roadster built by Adrian at Buckland Automotive. 'Boz' the 35 Batten Special of Neil Bennett. Roger Hamilton's lakes modified ch***is. Soon to be united with it's A tub body. A few of the whole line up. The cars were very well received all weekend and a couple of potential new members were recruited. A huge success for the club.
I was there on Sunday and enjoyed looking over the cars - the place was certainly packed, and you guys all looked busy with 'the punters'. Thanks for posting the pics - the detail fab work on the T-bucket is great - beautiful welds and it is looking good. Is it the subject of a build thread on here already? Or will it become one...............? Cheers.
Not sure if Pete will be posting a build thread as it's a customer's car but if you want to check out more of his awesome fabrication skills here is the thread for his modified. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=737344
Great photos Gav, I'm sorry to have missed it this year as there appears to be some lovely new stuff being built. Roger's rolling ch***is looks incredible, love the turned out pipe ends and the quick change rear. Almost a shame to put a body on it. Brett's T Bucket is ace, I've watched this take shape over the last few months and there is a lot of Pete's clever touches and ideas incorporated in it. The two side pipes flow exactly to match the curve of the tub and the dual tanks between the frame rails are artwork in their own right. Is Dan's Nailhead special a new build? It is freakin brilliant, can't wait to see this at Prescott (there's no way he can miss it surely?) All in all a great selection of cars representing the VHRA. Well done chaps!
Nath I signed Dan up to the VHRA at this event last year and he was just about to start the build so he has turned it round pretty quick and made a nice job. Apparently it shifts well with the nailhead in there!
