Thanks for the interest in our place. Here is a photo of workers rolling cigars and what we started with. Close ups of jukeboxes and other arcade junk And down the hallway
Last batch. We live on the second floor, this is coming up the steps In the hallway at the top of steps Some of my junky office Evel's room when he stays for the Jalopy Showdown!
I did a post on my house a little while ago. Here it is again. Since then we've installed the last exterior door and re-did the wiring to the garage (after hitting the gas line ) and we should be done in 2 or 3 weeks. This house was owned by Southern Pacific Railroad for employee housing and was built in 1918. Moved to it's present location in 1927 and prior to the work we have done on it, the last time it was worked on was 1953. Travis
My god Larry, that is unfucking beleivable!!! I have always wanted to do something like that since I was a kid. I had a chance to buy an old Firehouse in Michigan at one point, but the deal fell through 'cause of zoning issues....
Thanks, its not an easy deal sometimes. Bankers and insurance guys really dont have a lot of vision when it comes to this stuff. Its kinda like getting a title for the car you just made out of a bunch of parts...make it sound right to them! Lulabelle is looking at an old Moose lodge with a freaking bowling alley in it, THATS cool!
Heres how mine started out ... a 23 grand piece of crap. . After two years of solid work, it looks like this I'm really proud of it, but I'll never work like that again....for ANYONE!
Larry, you ought to have an open house sometime. I'd love to check out your collection. You have a good eye for style. later shawn
Hey Chaz, Your place is just beautiful. Looks like it,s out of a fairy tale. Our place was built in 1928. I have the first house in the street. My property covers 2,4,& 6 as well but they were blown away in WW 2. I have a buddy in the next village whose house dates from the early 1400s. ( It,s a bloody big castle been converted into appartments )
Wow Larry, that place rules.... My house was built in 1847.... its alot of work... I want to sell it when I'm done and buy an old building like that in the city..
Wow! Dude, that is an amazing transformation. And a beautiful house. I think you upped the value by about 2000000% too! Nicely done.
Larry, I see you have a Rowe "Dancing Pack" cigarette machine. I used to have one of those - I have a shop manual for it somewhere around here - do you need it? I was able to get mine working perfectly, and sold it at the Chicago show when I moved into the motorhome. You know who the dancer in the Old Gold pack is, don't you? GREAT collection...... Mutt
JohnnyFast, dust is patina for inside stuff! Chaz, your place turned out great! LOTS of work plmczy, just PM me when you will be in the area and stop by bleed, thanks! there are LOTS of cool buildings to fix up. Like a car project, just gotta get in right, do as much as you can yourself and not get buried in it.
Here's mine. It's a farmhouse built in 1862, when Belleville was only a few years old. I bought it for $25K and will probably spend another $15K to fix the 11 pages of code violations. Most of the expensive stuff is done, including swapping out the 60 amp fusebox with 5 fuses for a 200 amp breaker box with 40 breakers. Did all the work myself, including restoring a pedestal tub. Plaster lathing sucks. Get to know your local old house salvage yard guy. He is your friend. Next year I plan to double the size of the garage, but right now I just want to get an occupancy permit so I can live in it. It still has the brick path down the hill to the outhouse. When I finish uncovering it, I plan to put something at the end of the brick path. Maybe a gazebo, maybe another outhouse!
Larry... Your place is KILLER! I dont know how you can keep up with all that. It shows more imagination than anything I've seen of late... I told my wife we should sell ours now cause weve been offered some real big bucks, but she informed me she's stayin...
It is new... but the only pic i had on my computer... but thats what the houses look like here anyway... but mostly wood ones.....
Larry, too cool! I had to get Barbara in here to see those pics, she loved them. Who knows, I've probably driven right by your place and no idea what treasure lay inside.
