Some pretty cool mini's in here! I just drug this home from a garage sale this morning. Any ideas on what it is?
Hope to have it up and running by the SW drags next month. Might need to bug ya for some expertise Chip!
Here's my '68 Benelli Dynamo. I still have it, needs a clutch. This street legal bike always managed to rustle the constabulary out of the bushes when I rode it on the street. I also have a '74 trail version with 25 miles on the clock, this however was considered an OFF ROAD vehicle. They both have fold down handlebars, though the '68's have been welded, a little scary having them come loose at speed.
I rigged up the throttle return with some zip ties, but I did get to take the old bike for a couple laps around the neighborhood tonight. Hauls more ass then I thought it would with the 2 horse, fast enough for this sketchy little machine anyway. Check out my super comfy seat too!!!
My Super Stock / Modified Production Inspired Mini. It's a Ruttman with a "modified" 6.5. OHV motor should hit over 50 mph with ease. Wheeling it in to the basemant at Cobo in a couple of weeks.
"Taco Joe" Revello is reproducing Taco minibikes from the original Steen's tooling. He has seats, seat foam, and seat covers. www.tacominibikes.com
Sad to report that Nick Flores Cat 250 from a bit higher up on the page has claimed it's first victim... His girl friend Jessica was buzzing around on it last evening and put her leg down at speed and broke her knee. Not good... In a text conversation last night with Nick, she seemed to be in good spirits, and was instumental in coining the little terror's new name; "The Akneealater"! Tough girl that one! It reminded me of the incredible miss Judy's first ride... The one wherein she decided to crash into the doctors office flower bed at the end of our alley rather than into rush hour traffic on third street! Fortunatly, she has gotten much better! As a slightly handy post script, something to consider, It doesn't seem like like a natural reaction to females to let go of the throttle when they want to slow down. Of the three girls riding minibikes into things that I have witnessed, (lake, flower bed, parked car) all three had the throttle pegged and stomping wildly on the brake at the same time. Might want to include that bit of info next time you con your beloved into this silly, childish, but oh so fun chingo...
There is a guy over at www.oldminibikes.com that makes them. He made me one for my Rupp. Looks just like the original.
Not good indeed... Tibial Plateau Fracture, and a displaced one at that. Her first broken bone and she went all out! Surgery plus a few months recovery. She's taking it like a champion however and had everyone in the ER laughing when she came up with the Akneealator name.
I agree about the cheap fun even though these aren't vintage...Here are my similar ones that my boys got for Christmas this year. I haven't got around to many modifications yet other than the pinstriping and figure my boys can learn a lot from these...
Mine just swore like a sailor in both Chinese and Engrish!!!! 'Course, I haven't mentioned the time she rode our Go Kart at speed into the thirteen story high rise at the other end of the alley...
Mini bikes have become quite a popular item at McPherson college. We have 3 that cause ruckus on campus, and a couple more that are in progress now.
We had a mini bike night tonight here under the smog berry trees in beautiful downtown Phoenix. A good time was had by all! I took some pictures, but it was abit late in the evening for them to come out. Nick Flores brought the Akneealator out, I rode my hopped up CAT250 about and Crazy Roy kinda brought up the rear on one of his many minis. Roy's grand daughter Chelsae rode the go kart and damn near killed Nick and I as we all raced down the alley in the dark, in oposite dirrections... East to West on the alley is now a rule unless the pack is all together! Roy provided even more gut busting fun by asking me to start a rather low geared 6.5 Honda cloned mini bike to "see what you think" - of course not telling me that it realy just had an on/off switch instead of a predictable, linear throttle. After picking myself up off the ground I actually took a ride on that wheelstanding bitch! Gotta show it who is boss right?! So there it is - simple dumb fun on a Thursday night in the heart of Phoenix, AZ. I plan to do it again next week, be here about 6 PM and give me a call and let me know your coming please!
After my visit with Chip the other night I decided to make a couple of improvements.... Fixed up the throttle linkage and made a cool intake... Made a new stinger.... Sounds tough as nails. Overall look.... Paint and a new seat might happen one day.
Hey Chip, here's my new ride, almost done. It needs some tweaking, then I'll take it apart for paint. I'll plan on it for next thursday.
Momma thinks I'll look great rollin around the neighborhood on my new Bonanza project with my German helmet on. Been looking for a minibike for awhile, just scored this one off Craigslist = John
I picked this one up a week ago. I think it is an Alexander Reynolds. Appreciate any help in identifying make and maybe year range...??? Plan on stripping it down, flaking the frame in a bright green and put on a new seat. Although the 3 hp runs excellent, I have a hopped up 5hp Briggs running on methanol to slide in.
Just got this one. Will use it at the shows. If anyone can shed light on what it is, year etc...? I would appreciate this very much. Oh yea, gave $30.
I still have my 1973 Honda 50 Minitrail. Still runs great and I just got my brothers also (its twin)that was in his garage when it caught on fire. Smoke damage only so I plan on restoring at least one of them.
