This is Phil Harrison, Leon's son, I am re registering the old bikes. I am interested in you bike it dose look like one of the proto bikes, I have tons of stuff on Oldminibikes.com under wildcat Harrison. My e-mail is Sunriserestoration@yahoo.com. I would like to see some more pics and would like to know the history of the bike and how you know it is a proto. I am registering the bikes so I can contact owners of gatherings and shows. Get a hold of me id like to talk, Phil Harrison
I have a real nice old "Lil' Indian". With the front and rear springs. The 4HP Tec engine is tired and sloppy. So me and pop's found and newer and never ran/clean 5HP Tec engine hooked to a small generator. Slap that in, then a fresh coat of paint. It'll be one neat motha'.
It's a Taco Series 1, the first mass production design from Taco. Holy Grail may be debatable, but it's a quite rare collectable these days.
Yep, and with a West Bend. Kinda like a Ford VS Chevy thing I guess. I'd say his Taco is in comparable stature of a '31 Vicky
Check out this site: http://www.steenstacominibikes.com/Models.html There's several good pages on Taco/Steen's
Not much left of it, but I just grabbed a Western Flyer Trail Flite. I can't seem to find much on them, but I'm Googlin'.....
Probably have better luck under MTD or Columbia. Columbia has shocks on the seat frame, and the MTD had a hardtail seat frame that bolted on without shocks. http://jleibovitch.tripod.com/id211.htm I have an extra Columbia seat frame that yours is missing that I was going to sell some day.
This thread is a bad influence. I started reading it last year and for some reason had to have a minibike too. Maybe trying to recapture my youth..................... Anyway, I found an old frame on CraigsLIst and started ordering new parts. Put everything new on it, including a 6.5 HP motor from HF, then sprayed it bright yellow. So far I have put about 15 minutes running time on it because I found out I am not as brave as I was when I was 12. Frankly, it scares the hell out of me. But it makes an interesting conversation piece collecting dust in the shop. Thanks HAMB ! Here it is when I got it.......... And here it is now................ Don
Yeah, it's been a bad influence on me too. I've probably picked up 40 or more projects since this thread started.
Hah.. just found this thread. I have a restored Super Bronc (no pics available right now), and another that is mid-resto.. Both for sale if anyone is interested!! Search 'hemifalcon super bronc' on photobucket and you'll find the pics of mine! here's the project log for the second one.. http://www.oldminibikes.com/forum/project-logs/5799-super-bronc-project-numero-dos.html and the finished one that I completed in 2004.. http://www.oldminibikes.com/forum/complete-mini-bikes/30546-super-bronc-antioch-illinois-1400-a.html -John and yes, these things are fun!! check out oldminibikes.com for some good info on all things minibike!
any body know what this is?? just picked it up for $65 motor runs, iknow the frt wheel is wrong, who's a good parts dealer for these jewels... thanks BT
My old man and I caught the bug at Billetproof FL this past April before I'd ever even noticed this thread. This thread just validated my sickness for me. And it is a sickness. We started by picking up this Sears Roper (frame only at the time) at the BP swapmeet... Which, in the past three months, grew into this... At which point we realized that they were all too fast for my kids to handle on my dad's property so I bought these from a guy on CL for a REALLY good package deal... Also bought about 7 of those 6.5 HF motors while they were closing them out, "just in case". Bad influence indeed.
Been looking for one for a while and heres what i found, my lead panned out. Now if you ask my wife if i got a deal thats a different story. She sees a rusty old minibike that need a LOT of work and parts....I see the dimond in the ruff!!!!! IT'S AN OLD RUPP!!!! I think i did good, I have a couple of motors in the building but the clutch i have is for like a 1" shaft and i needed one for a 3/4" shaft but i will work it out. If you guys can come up with any info that would be greatly appreciated ot leads on where to get parts from would be awesome. Thanks in advance!
HaHa! Nope, I'm pretty twisted. Blaming you and (mostly) Kenny for my new addiction gets me through the day alright though. I keep waiting to see that twin engine bike of yours done.......
Can I play too! Here are my 2 Arctic Cat minis. One is a "Whisker" and one is a "Prowler". Both are under construction. Fun to play with, but parts are hard to come by.
Just curious, does anyone have dimensioned drawings of the frame and forks for minibikes? Or the bike itself? Any brand would do.
I bought this Western Auto bike at a swap meet on fathers day. Went for a ride for the first time today.
