My buddy picked this up at the local scrap yard. The fender and "tanks" are metal... the entire side of the handle bars turn for the throttle... any idea what it is?

It had a little bit of a front suspension:

I was thinking a Mustang, but all of the ones I have seen have not had the funky bend in the frame by the seat....

It is not a Mustang or a Cushman. The fork looks like it was made from a Cushman fork though.

The front forks and handlebars look like the old Cushmans... but only on the it-down kind where you put your feet in front of the motor-box area.

A whole lot of odd parts, but the tank is Simplex and frame. Simplex' were 2 stroke . They made a small tire scooterish looking one and a tall wheeled one that kinda looked like a motorcycle. And a bigger POS was never made, woefullly under powered they were soon parked in a far corner. Thats why you still see a few that still look almost new. They were about half the price of the cheapest Cushman etc. so they sold a few . Adds for them always were in Mechanix Ill. ,Popular Mech. etc.

It's not a mustang, has parts of cushman frontend. I believe it is a homemade frame using what was available. The tank is a cut up simplex. Pretty cool anyway. TP

SHEESH ! iTS A FUKIN' SIMPLEX, They where made in New Orleans ,,, yes NEW ORLEANS LOUSIANA, (or howver the hell they spell it ) Messenger bike, centrifical clutch, and a 125 cc engine a real POS but they served a need and would get about two gazillion miles to a gallon, the give away is the frame, the way it curls around the tanks ! Late 40's early 50's

Yep, mostly simplex. But man, what a bastard.

    I hate simplexes.

I restored one, and it sits in the garage. Dumbest design for a kickstart I've ever seen. Cool looking bike though...
