With early hemi engines being my favorite I always try to get these shift knobs whenever they come up. I've also seen the same style with other brands on them. I was curious if anyone knew who manufactured them and where they used to be available at?
So, that really explains why I have seen those 'old' shifty (deal ) knobs offered only as preowned and in extremely perfect, like new condition.
So they're probably just the work of somebody reproducing old style shift knobs. I still like them though. I shined up and repainted the top one in my picture and am going to use it my Sweptside once I get my hemi in it.
Not reproducing, these are a recent idea. Knobs that never existed, but have marketing appeal. Probably made you know where.
As stated, they are new and most of the time listed as vintage/used. There are several Ebay sellers that list them exclusively. We've had em listed on here as well.....and listed as vintage. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/vintage-shift-knobs.1077651/
.... and listed as vintage, with the use of the word preowned. I still do like them, ever thou they are current production items.
Well at least I know now that they're not period made pieces. I knew they weren't actual MoPar equipment because I don't believe any of these engines were ever advertised as "Hemi" in the 50's. Even so as someone who collects anything Chrysler Firepower related I still would've paid the $75 to have them just for the attention to detail and that they looked period correct. The only other thing I've seen that was similar was this plate topper that was for sale on eBay at one point. It looks very similar to the knobs and may have been made by the same people. I would've liked to have had it too if I had seen it when it was for sale. I machined a plate out of 1/4" aluminum in the style of the sand cast car club plaques to go on the front of my truck. I've got a bit of a 50's MoPar addiction!
