1964, # 10 Gordon Johncock in the USAC Sprint Car he took over after Johnny White career ending injury. This car was built by Johnny White and Won over 52 Sprint Car Races by 3 or 4 different drivers, Johnny White won the Anderson Little 500 and others, Johncock set a World one lap record at Winchester in 1964 that lasted almost 5 years, Gordon Woolley of Waco Texas won a lot in IMCA in this car. This was always the Weinberger Spl for many years
When I was going to high school I worked at a food store and had a job sorting returned pop bottles. Used to find stuff in a lot of the boxes people would return the bottles in. Car parts, money, X rated books and a report card from some kid who flunked the eighth grade.
Yours is not the only memory like that. Starting out looking after yourself at a young age and not asking for much from your parents was the norm for us born during and soon after the war. It’s what made our generation strong. We may have hurt the next gen because we wanted it easier than it was for us.....
