Bob McGee was photographed at El Mirage Dry Lake, August 29, 1944, during a Russetta Timing illegal inter-WWII meet. McGee’s flathead featured 21 stud Federal Mogul heads with no water pumps and a Thermo cycle process years before Smokey Yunick tried it. No speed is known. The car would later be featured on the cover of the October 1948 issue of Hot Rod Magazine.

This A. J. Watson creation was first run in 1962 as the Leader Card number 7. In ’63 it was bought by Norm Demler with Ray Nichels as Chief Mechanic. This ’64 shot shows the car when Danny Oaks took over as Crew Chief (far right in the shot) and driver Johnny White after he had just put the car in the showdown in 21st starting spot with a qualifying speed of 150.893 mph.
