Ultimately, the Plymouth Division of Chrysler Corp. brought about their own demise. They could not compete with GM and Ford in the same marketplace. I suspect that the 1956 Plymouth sales numbers, permitting Buick to out sell them for third place, sent many of their marketing managers to the unemployment lines, and the brand never really recovered. For all I know, it probably was the beginning of making the entire Corporation what it is today. Even with all the hype, the U.S. sales numbers (2020) for the Ram pick-up trucks is only 630,000. The Ford F-150 in 2020 sold 850,000 units. The Chevy sold 575,000, and if you lump those numbers in with the GMC pick-ups (virtually the same vehicle), General Motors sold 805,000 pick-ups in 2020...
