It looks like it has the exhaust outlets in the rear bumper. I think only the 292 and 312 had them. My wife’s grandfather had a ‘56 Victoria with a 272 since his car had duals exiting under the bumper. I don’t remember if it was a Fairlane or Customline. It’s been nearly 50 years since I last saw it. I do remember it was a two tone blue and white car with a blue interior.
All 3 were available. I never personally saw a Fairlane without the red Thunderbird on the fender and we too bought a new one for my mom in 1956. The 292-312 shared the same emblem. 312’s had a different decal on the valve cover but the other differences were not easy to see. The best 312’s today are a 292 bored .050” over (stock 312) and use a 312 crank/rods with the mains turned to the 292 diameter. The bigger mains actually weakened the block and caused main webbing failure when raced.
