I was Stationary Engineer by trade for 35 years ,Steam is a huge form of energy . Works great when under control , out of control it will kill you . Expansion rate water to steam : 1700 to 1 , that is lots of energy ! The boilers were run low on water and remained to fire at a high rate until the tube header plate warped and failed . It would not be hard to locate , scorched earth and smell of hot sheet everywhere from the fireman and engineer .
