Hello, Nice array of So Cal photos. From the Northern Coastal areas around Malibu down through the Santa Monica area are evident, as some of those old buildings are still there as of 2019. (our last coastal road trip prior to the pandemic) But, that wild intersection of Huntington Beach is what it used to look like in the early OC history books. This is the Main Street and PCH corner in old Huntington Beach, CA. about 80 miles South of Malibu. The famous Pier is to the left in the photo and to the right is surf shop row, Main Street leading inland for miles . The quaint old buildings lasted into the late 80s, then investor companies took over and now the whole corner is unrecognizable with huge redevelopment and no old buildings. (Jack's Surfboards from the 60s on one corner shown and across the street, Huntington Surf and Sport.) Jnaki We spent our teenage days surfing both sides of the Pier almost daily in the summer and after school/weekends during the school year. Many years after, my wife and I spent lots of time at the Golden Bear music venue/restaurant and the shops along the Main Street. Besides the surf shops, seen one, seen them all... there were cool small shops selling all kinds of wares. A landmark location and venue, but it is now gone into the history books of rock and roll and old 60s-70s Huntington Beach. But, for tourists and travelers, there are endless places to stay across the street from the ocean and in small little places. Just allow plenty of time to get where you want to go due to Coast Highway traffic at all hours of the day/night. YRMV
