    "Devils Shingle" Mount Washington NH. Employees would ride these at break neck speeds down. Then someone got off'd. There is one(maybe this one; in the base museum in Franconia). His hands are on lever brakes. basically wood that levered into the ties to slow you. The fastest time down was fairly idiotic if i remember right.

    Unsung heroes that were underpaid, overworked, abused, and exposed to constant danger. Yet they went and did it regardless, and put the country on the map. https://www.coalcampusa.com/ is an excellent site. Years of research, tons of pics, days of surfing. There are a pile of ways to die mining, as Shorpy did.

    If you have not seen this yet, find it, and watch. I knew this was done, but had no idea the extent. They were the 60's. Watching for 3x as I type this. TV/commercials/rock/country/sinatra/motown.....they were everywhere, and uncredited mostly. Several are the most recorded session musicians of all time. There are cars in the documentary(so that makes it relevant here [kinda]).
