Hello, In our last "all together" family vacation in the Mammoth Mountain/Crowley Lake area, we spent a week long vacation in a cabin to make our mom feel like it was a real vacation. Very little cooking/cleaning as we got take out locally, ate at local restaurants, and she was happy to rest before each meal. For two growing teens, there was never a slow moment at our house, except when we were at school or on a long surf trip. She had plenty of time just sitting inside of the cabin, taking walks around the site, and stepping outside for a great view of the lakes, just a short walk down to the shoreline. This was for her a “real” vacation. Although, the two sons were on their last whole family vacation as we were teenagers, had our own car, and were too large to fit in the backseat of a Buick sedan for thousands of miles. I am certain that our dad knew this was the last one, as he could sense the two teens in the back seat. As we drove up the coastline then across the whole California coast to the desert areas, we were in the back seat enjoying what was going to be the "last one." But, we did not tell them that during this road trip. So, with so much free time, what does my mother do while our dad was driving around the various lakes, rock formations and hidden streams? As we were driving around the whole area, our mom took out the 16mm color movie camera and pointed it out of the front windshield of the 57 Buick sedan. Without making any noise, she started filming out of the windshield and later on, she said in an excited voice that there was a deer up ahead. Now, the two brothers were actually looking out of the windows to see the deer. Our dad slowed down and my mom kept filming. Jnaki It was one of the only times she ever decided to use the 16mm color movie camera for anything. She had no idea if the film captured anything, except she kept it pointed to what she thought was a deer. Deer In Mammoth Lakes/Lake Crowley Vacation. film by Mom Nak…
