This picture must have been before he lost a huge bet and had to herd Nopars for the rest of his life
Hello, This photo reminds me of those early days in 1950-54 when Hollywood actor/stuntman/performer Montie Montana visited our elementary school for a morning’s display of his tricks and roping skills. Did Montie Montana visit your school? “Here’s a photo of the Wild West visiting Victory Boulevard Elementary school, California. 1950s, with a special show by Montie Montana who rode his horse and performed rope tricks, he also rode in many parades for years.” “Over his career, Montie impressed over 8 million Southern California children, bringing his trick-roping skills to their schools. “ Jnaki As we all were sitting on the blacktop surface, Montie Montana was just steps away doing all of his roping tricks and agility moves. We were all impressed with the display of the performance. Since we were little kids, any person we saw on TV was impressive. But to be able to see “in person,” at our own elementary school in the Westside of Long Beach was something. Of course one of our classmates, a cute little girl, was selected to stand up and was told she would be an example of roping techniques. Somehow, he was able to throw the rope over her without hitting her on the head or body. Then in a wink of an eye, pulled up to get it tight. The girl probably blinked, but did not know how it happened. To us, it was fast, efficient, and amazing. How the heck did that rope go so quickly and surround the girl? YRMV Montana would go to elementary schools and perform with Rex. He was at Camellia Avenue Elementary School in North Hollywood, California, in 1959, and he would talk about the rubber horseshoes Rex would be fitted with so Rex would not slip on the asphalt playground while Montie was riding Rex.
I'm so glad we never experienced this type of landscape down here. Bad enough now with the bloody wind turbines.
