I sure like the looks of both the 56 n 57 Meteor. 1 more car I promise, Rex Winter Dry n windy Lubbock Texas
The first photo must be the CAE house car. It's likely that Jim Culbert built and sold more sprints and supermodifieds that anyone before or since. And even people who didn't run his cars used a lot of his running gear. The second shot is very interesting but I can't identify anything in it. Is there any information on this one? And the last shot looks to be the ex-Ed Elisian Chapman car but again, I don't where or how it got there. Thanks for all of the interesting photos, Rootie!
I don't have any info on the #21 car. Yes that is the ex-Chapman car that was bought by Harry Hyde after its Champ car career. The fellow standing with the car is stock car driver Andy Hampton who drove it for Hyde. Apparently there was a fairly active Open wheel/Supermod/open comp type series in the KY./southern. Ind./Ohio area in the late 50s/60s though I've found precious little info on it.
Imagine that. All these experts braying on about out how stupid The beach Boys are for not knowing a deuce from a roadster and The beach Boys are the ones laughing at the braying fools all the way to their bank.
