Hollywood and Vine @swi66 Hello, As some would say, this is one of the most photographed intersections in So Cal. Even the locals in the area do so as they drive by or are stopped at the stop light. It has been shown in countless movies and TV shows and in print archives. For a treat, our dad took the whole family to this intersection to show our mom what we all saw on TV. From the time of the 1941 Buick Fastback Sedan days to the 1953 four door Buick sedan days, we saw this place a couple of times. When we were teenagers, the Hollywood area was a destination. Primarily for first run movies as the theaters in our area of Long Beach did not show first run movies. We all had to drive to Hollywood to see those new or latest movies on the screens along this street and Sunset Blvd. In addition, it was a destination cruising spot for most teenagers. Jnaki As 20 somethings, the attraction of rock music venues and concerts were the main draw, but one had to go through this intersection of Hollywood and Vine Streets. It was the “center” of most activity in this area. YRMV Note: No, my wife’s 1962 Corvair never made it to Hollywood and Vine Street… But, we (as a couple of wandering 20’s) certainly did plenty of times for a variety of activities in the El Camino and the 327 powered Ford Sedan Delivery. Even an LP record buying road trip for the lower cost than we could get in our neck of the So Cal woods… Note 2: One of our favorite trips was to go to this intersection, see what we could see or go shopping at one of the record stores and then go to Sunset Blvd for the trip West. Sunset Boulevard from this area heads West in a fun drive to the ocean about 20 miles to the shoreline at PCH. It is one of the hidden gems in a cool road trip through many different things in that part of So Cal. To finish the day or night on the drive, one will come up to the big restaurant right on the waterfront. Great food, atmosphere, plus great scenery if you get there at sunset... so named for the Sunset Blvd road trip... YRMV
