That's interesting because around here there are a lot of 40 Fords, I'm always looking for an inexpensive one without a flathead engine but they aren't for sale very much.
@jeepsterhemi @jimmy six Hello, We had to have one of our old daily drivers tested for smog as per So Cal rules. So, I found a small shop tucked deep into the industrial areas a short drive away. As I was watching the owner drive my car into his shop with built in ground rollers and machines lining the walls, I noticed the rest of the shop. he had/has been in business a long time and is well respected in the community. But, as clean as his working side of the large garage work space for the smog testing stuff is located, the other side looked like most garage photos here on the HAMB. Not saying he does not know where everything is located, but to me it just looked crowded and stuff was piled up. One of the early days as my daily driver was getting a smog check on the other side of the garage, I noticed a cool looking toy pedal car on the floor back by his office. It was this little red car with spoke type rims and reminded me of an old Formula Race Car before the early 60s. Jnaki I asked if it was for sale, but he had already placed it in the grandchild mode and was waiting for the grandchild to be old enough to be able to sit in it and move it around. The body condition was pristine, although sitting in this open shop, it gathered dust. I told him about our granddaughter and her scooter I made for her as well as her various moving toys. He said he has been asked many times to sell the red toy car. But, it is headed for his future family adventures. Note: Two years later, and for other smog check days, beyond, it was sitting on top of a metal cabinet high above little fingers of visiting kids waiting for the dad’s cars being tested. Now, it was above those grabbing fingers and shiny as usual. I will see it in a few years when my wife’s older car needs a smog test for the DMV registration. YRMV
