The aftermath of Canadian (AKA socialist) engineering and craftsmanship is the lines tied back to shore to hopefully prevent further collapse. Engineering and craftsmanship can save your life. Where is that guy whose (government?) job it is to go around holding a board with numbers for photographs of run down structures? Some are even occupied.
Demonstrating a cellar or attic nozzle. The firemen would jam the nozzle through the floor or ceiling to attack the fire. I used one on several occasions.
The picture of the wooden bridge is somewhere in Europe IIRC...as for the guy with the board with numbers, these ''building'' were demolish to make room for newer buildings, streets, metro stations, parks etc in preparation for Universal Expo'67 in Montréal...
