After High School when he was 7ft tall, Max Palmer played professional NBA Basketball for the Rochester Royals here in Upstate NY.

    Hello,

Every time we drove up PCH along the coastline from Los Angeles’ South Bay from our house, the summers were for early surfing at Malibu’s Surfrider State Beach. Or somewhere along that portion of the coastline. During the winters, if our information was correct, it was still a coastal drive up to Santa Barbara and that swell location provided us with great adventures.

The Coast Highway from our house through The South Bay leads to Santa Monica and the Malibu area. We drove it often and usually stopped along the way if we saw the best gas prices at any station. We had been Standard Station customers in Long Beach and so, we knew that brand allowed our cars to run great.

This area is always busy as the beach location is easy access to millions of Los Angeles folks/families. Just drive west and the inland roads lead to this beach front location. Will Rogers State Beach is a wide expanse of beachfront and fairly calm waves. It is/was the location of a lot of beach scenes from the favorite TV shows and movies. During the time later when we were visiting my brother in Santa Barbara, as we drove by this location on the coast, there were tons of trucks, vans and movie equipment in the beachfront parking lots.

The last time we drove up in 2018, it was not as crowded as the photo shows. One has to pick and choose when to drive the Coast Highway to get the least amount of traffic to head North. (9 AM North is usually the best… South… there is no time other than 2 a.m. or so) Coming home along the same shoreline was usually crowded as our timing was always late afternoon and into dinner time as we got back to the South Bay for our last stop prior to heading back to our own coastal area in the South.

Note: The house on the hill slid down during the massive earthquake in the Los Angeles area many years ago. Yikes!
