Hello, As I was writing some information with local knowledge of the So Cal area we used to hang out, it became obvious that the style and look of the photo was during our time cruising back then. Colorful pants for women/girls and sleeveless tops or high cut sleeves were part of the styling allure. Not to mention driving a cool 55 Chevy two door sedan. But, before I could post it on a thread, this same photo pops up again. Jnaki Sometimes, just being in the area during a great time during the early 60s was cool. But during the mid 60s to 1970, was a hectic time, but very interesting as far as being a young couple in their 20s having a great time shopping for LP albums, dining at the hot spots along the two main streets, Sunset Blvd and Hollywood Blvd. They were great along with the West Los Angeles attractions that led us to wander around that portion of So Cal back in those fun times. Today? Not so much… YRMV The research tells of some photo information: “I don’t know who these cool chicks were, or whose 1955 Chevy 210 sedan this was, but I love the hip mid-50s vibe of this colorful photo. In the top right corner we can see the roof of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, which places them in a parking lot south of Hollywood Blvd. A 25-story office tower now occupies that line of white-painted stores behind them. And the spot where the women are standing is now a 5-story parking structure. But to the left of the photo is the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, which is still very much around and a central part of the Hollywood Blvd social scene.” Hollywood! 1956 More quotes from other folks that could identify the same location in Hollywood, CA. “A couple of hip chicks from Illinois strike a pose behind the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel and Grauman's Theater on N. Orange. The mint green 1955 Chevy 210 2-door sedan sets off the girls' red and blue slacks, and you almost miss the zig-zag alteration on miss blue-pants. She looks like trouble.”
I thought Ft Monroe was Marines. Ft. Eustis was Army. Norfolk was the Navy, and Langley was the Air Force? Yeah, that is how they talked down there. Couldn't figgure out how they called "pop," (Coke/Pepsi/RC) "soda". Seems like when one crossed over into Va from WV, for every 5 miles one went back 20 years in history! Remember seeing there was a beautiful deep metal flaked '55 Chevy called "Mellow Yellow" (my first truly metalflacke paint job I saw close up) running around that H'Roads area. Saw it a decade later, while driving from "Colonial Williamsburg Rod Run" to Mytrle Beach. It looked liked it had been raind on with salt water. All faded, streaked with rust.
