We went on our coastal honeymoon up the coast, stopping at places we liked such as Santa Barbara, Big Sur cabins, having dinner at Nepenthe and driving farther up in the rain to San Francisco. It was the first leg of a tour of California for us. We had completed the first leg many times over and it never got old, as we changed the rooms and places. This time we were going to go across the S.F. Bay into Eastern California border areas and then down South to So Cal. Yosemite, Mammoth, Death Valley, San Bernardino Mountains and back. About 2000 miles +/- It was a low cost road trips as we were saving for our coastal apartment we knew we wanted to get. So, upon coming back to So Cal, it was there waiting for us… empty. In San Francisco, we had seen a design studio that has some nice furniture. One was the famous Egg Chair pictured in the photo above. The real Arne Jacobsen tan leather chair. We wanted minimal furniture and decided to get one centerpiece chair for those rock music mood times. But, after seeing an original chair in the exact leather covering, it was more than a year of rent for our small apartment!!! Yikes.. So, after coming home, we sat on a nice floor with a funky couch provided by the owner of the apartment. We lived with that ugly couch, but it was better than a cold concrete style flooring. Plus, it made into a bed for overnight visitors. Then finally, we found a small shop near our old Long Beach high school that dealt with “designer furniture.” It had tons of stuff that would fit our needs, so we started off with a the blue material copy of the famous “Egg Chair.” Jnaki A superb stereo music system, with 15 inch speakers, + a record player and that was all we needed to be comfortable. 10 years later, the chair was given to a young contractor who was doing some house remodeling for us. The contractor was in a similar position as my wife and I as young married kids. They needed a chair for their own small apartment he and his wife were living in at the time. YRMV
