Hello, When my wife’s family moved to the Westcoast for her dad’s job, it was in hot, inland Pacoima. After driving around in the two cars the dad purchased, an old 36 Ford coupe, for his daily driver to work, while the 50 Chevy sedan was for the mom to drive the kids and go shopping. That went on for a year or so. But, one day my wife’s mom wanted to buy convertible as it was hot, driving around in that 50 Chevy sedan. So, she got a 47 Buick convertible. The dad would not drive in that convertible, so it was all hers. 50s’ independence!!! Yes.. Pacoima in So Cal My wife remembers those drives with the top down. It was always swirling winds, but it was a cooling down of the temperature, despite the hot sun. So, to keep the hot sun from burning their heads, most of the time they wore bandanas. It was not the typical photo most see of young women driving in convertibles with their long hair blowing back, while driving around in palm tree laden streets. Ha! Some image! YRMV Jnaki Not brand specific into the 50s, but a general way to enjoy the top down cruising... Other photos of Buick convertibles also provided beach community folks to lower the top and head straight for the surf and sand. Of course, a longboard was placed nose first into the open area. So where all of them? Same as the '57 Ford outsold Chevy. When is the last time you saw either a Falcon or '57 Ford as compared to the Chevies?
