Poor, poor, pitiful me.
Did you make it home safe to your beautiful wood framed house with wood cabinets and doors? Maybe a wood deck overlooking all those wood framed homes with wooden fences in your cozy neighborhood.
The driver, most likely an independent business, was probably paid by the load. If that confuses you, that means he has to make as many loads as possible without having time for lollygaggers complaining about lowly logging trucks disrupting their precious day of leisure.

Not to worry. Most of the lumber is now cut, milled and shipped from Canada.
Today's price for that one log on that truck, before it's milled, could be upwards of 10s of thousands of dollars.
The owner of the truck on some days could be lucky to make enough for fuel and groceries.
The next time you wonder about the rising cost of homes you'll know why.
