The posts about the Edmund Fitzgerald made me think of the William P. Snyder, a 562' long ship that was originally built in 1906 to carry iron ore on the Great Lakes. She was eventually renamed the Medusa Challenger and converted to carry portland cement on the Lakes and often visited Chicago to drop off her bulk cargo to the dismay of road and pedestrian traffic.
