My father moved to Panama City beach in the early 70’s after he and my mother divorced. In those days it was mostly a forgotten part of Florida. The beach was unspoiled and practically deserted. The fishing was amazing and there were many great restaurants to enjoy the local seafood. Today it’s been completely overtaken with development ruining the experience completely. The city finally made the decision to outlaw beach week because of the crime it brings.
My father knew Mr Jenkins personally. When ever my mother and I went to the Publix in South Tampa he would always ask her how the store could be improved. What ever she commented he wrote down in a small notepad. To this day I have never been in a grocery store that compares to Publix.
