Man,you think that's a saw....THIS is a saw! cross cut that is. ( still have a 6 foot one I kept from my dad. 1917-2012)
Hello, I recently (April) wrote about a 1961 Biscayne 409 in a post this past week. 4/09/25 The interesting thing was that my friend was the first to have access to a red Thunderbird Sport Roadster. That T-Bird amazed all of us and he was proud. We all knew his mom and she was the one that needed a new car and bought it for herself. But, since she liked all of her son’s friends, she allowed us to go with him when he drove the sporty T-Bird around. It was not just locally in Bixby Knolls. Several times, we drove up to Hollywood and Vine, took the Sunset Blvd. all the way to the Santa Monica Beach and eventual pier. But, the in Hollywood, we had a fun time, as most everyone smiled at the two of us cruising around and then the next time, there were 4 of us. It was not fast, but, who cared? It was a pure cruiser and we knew it. Envy was there, but it sure was fun driving with the headrests the first time and then taking them off so 4 of us could get in the comfy seats. Jnaki Yes, I called shotgun and since we were all friends, we did switch seats. The open T-Bird was certainly different than the dual quad 57 Chevy Bel Air Hardtop with a custom 4 speed or my own modified, 58 Impala. But, within several months after cruising around in the T-Bird, our friend decided to get his own car and not use “mommy’s car.” We were ok with “mommy’s car,” but we also had our own cars and this was a limited use fun activity. But, we all knew the term heard in the hot rod drive-in restaurant parking lots of “mommy’s car” was not what he wanted to hear. So, within months, he was learning to drive a 1961 Biscayne powered by a 409 motor and 4 speed. We helped him select the Biscayne and taught him how to start/stop, as well as the intricacies of the heavy duty clutch + shifting. No, he was not going to race it at Lion’s Dragstrip, although I would have, given the chance with any 409 Chevy.
