    On June 9, 1909, this 22-year-old housewife and mother began a 3,800-mile journey from Hell Gate in Manhattan, New York, to San Francisco, California, in a green, four-cylinder, 30-horsepower Maxwell DA. On her 59-day trek she was accompanied by two older sisters-in-law and 19 year-old friend Hermine Jahns, none of whom could drive a car. They arrived amid great fanfare on August 7, although about three weeks later than originally planned.

    That's definitely a Frank Kurtis style grill on the Ford custom. He used the same grill work on several cars he customized while working at the Don Lee Coach and Body Works in Los Angeles. And the same grill style was used on his famous Atlas Chrome dirt track car. BTW, one of Kurtis' fellow employees at Don Lee was one Harley Earle later of General Motors fame.

  26. I believe so; Powerglides were cast iron until 62, and it looks aluminum.
