Hello, Our dad used to take us driving to and from San Diego on our road trips. Sometime it was a direct home to location in San Diego, like the famous ZOO and Balboa Park. But, other times it may have been a stop over for gas to fill up for our long trip home from our Baja Mexico family vacations. The various areas along the coastline were always great as they were new to us. We saw the ocean almost weekly, but driving down the coastline through different areas of the San Diego County areas was always different. Just North of the San Diego Harbor is another water location called the Mission Bay area. It is a different water bay than the large San Diego Harbor. It is right next to a long coastal beach area that runs all the way through San Diego and into the Baja Mexico shoreline. One of the places that has become a destination area is the place called Ocean Beach. A nice white sand beach, walking/biking paths and a ton of cool restaurants with outdoor facilities for breakfasts to dinners. All along the shopping centers of Newport Avenue to the ocean. At one time a nice pier was great to walk out and feel a part of the ocean. But due to the large storms and wave action, it is now in a closed situation with a rebuild necessary. Jnaki We have dined at many different restaurants along the busy street leading to the beach. (breakfasts to dinners) One of our favorite is the outdoor dining location directly across the beach and pier. Our granddaughter loved sitting outdoors having a nice breakfast while the warm sun beat down on all of us. It was one of those sunny coastal So Cal days we all enjoy… YRMV
