    There were 700 409's made in 1965. They were all single 4 barrel 400 hp versions as dual quads were discontinued in 65. I ordered one in March of 1965 after discharge from the Air Force. It was delivered in May of 65. It was an Impala SS Hardtop, red with black vinyl top and white interior. It had a close ratio rock crusher 4 speed, 4:11 Posi rear , power steering and brakes, AM/FM radio with reverb, power windows and bucket power seats. Cost me $4200. Being 24 years old and stupid I got rid of it a few years later. The 409 was replaced by the 396 mid year 65.
